Post 10: English Language Challenges

Hello friends, this post will be about my reflections, thoughts and final conclusions about my experience in the English courses of the university.
The truth is that the English courses of the university remind me of those I had in high school (or what I remember of them, taking into account that I left high school for quite some time), that is, not very profitable. Not because of the teachers, in fact I think I had very good teachers, but rather because of the structure they had to follow that made things more tedious and did not motivate much.
I learned more theoretical things about the language and that is appreciated. But I feel that, at least in my case, I learn more the language with everyday things like watching movies or listening to music in English.
About blogs, I find that be entertained and we learn to write in English, but neither is it to be done all the time, I think other activities could be done as well.
What I need to improve in my English proficiency is to speak and listen. Writing and reading is not difficult for me.
English is not a language that I like very much and for that reason I do not have as much motivation to learn, but I know it is useful for many things. So, I plan to use it more in everyday life to improve.
Lately I use English to read some texts for a subject of the university, to listen / sing songs in this language and when I watch a movie or video and the audio is in English. I do not use English in many things. I hope to use it in more things in everyday life.

Post 9. Changes to my Study Program

Hello everyone!!! This is my final post, and in this last opportunity I going to talk about the changes that I would like to do in my Study Program. In my case, I study Public Administration at the University of Chile.
First to all, I would like to make changes in the curriculum, I considered that many subject are over, because there are subjects that deal with almost the same topic. Then there should be fewer subjects.
Based in this point, if more efficient curriculum was made, there would be less workload and the career would last less. Also, I think that is very important reduce the workload and the length of studies because it is necessary to take care the mental health of the students.
About the infrastructure of the school where I study, in my opinion it’s very small for the people that study here, there is no room for all. I think that the university should look for a more appropriate place or build one according to our needs.
In this career, it’s very important the use of technology, because in many jobs we have to use computer programs. Its necessary include in the curriculum more topics and subjects about use of technology and prepare more spaces with computers for the use of the students.
Finally, about the teaching methods, I think that teachers should try to be more pedagogical and see more dynamics and creative ways to teach. In the same way, they should be more considerate an emphatic when assigning the works, since many times they are not and they overload us unnecessarily.

Post 8: The holidays!

Hi everyone! In this post I going to talk about my future summer holidays (or the summer holidays that I would like to have)
This summer I would like to go and know cities on southern Chile, because in my opinion this zone of Chile is very beautiful because of the landscapes.  Also, I prefer the places with colder weather. I understand people who like to enjoy the heat especially in summer, I agree with this up to a point, but the heat is not something that I enjoy.
I would like to visit, for example, Valdivia. I have no doubt that Valdivia is a very beautiful and interesting city. I would like to go with my boyfriend; we have already traveled before and had a great time together. I agree entirely that traveling as a couple is very cool.
The activities that I would like to do in Valdivia is to know the monuments of the city, the city center and going to a bar where they have a craft beer from the place (I have been told its very good).
But, is more important for me know the parks and nature reserve of the place. Because I agree with that we have to know the nature wonders that it has our country to be aware of these places and take care of them. I can't agree with that the people who do not value nature and prefer to spend in cities.

Post 7: Is Obesity a Disease?

Obesity is a multifactorial condition characterized by excessive fat action or general hypertrophy in the adipose tissue of the body.  The OMS defines it, as when a person´s body mass index is equal to or greater than 30 kg/m².  Although it is an individual condition, it has become a public health problem that is increasing in the society.
In the clinical setting it is classified as a chronic disease and a metabolic syndrome, since it has a risk factor to health and life. Obesity generates predisposition to cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, cancer, among many others.
But, the obesity is really a disease?
The American Medical Associations identified three criteria to define disease:
1) An impairment of the normal functioning of some aspect of the body.
2) Characteristic signs and symptoms
3) Harm or morbidity.
According to specialists, obesity meets these characteristics.
It makes those who suffer from it, not able to do their life normally due to the physical limitation that cause.  Also, cause problems in the mental health, as eating disorder or depression.
Do not forget that as already mentioned, it can cause death by diseases associated with this condition.
Many say that it is not a disease, because it is an effect due to bad habits, such as eating too much or being sedentary. Like others who argue that it is caused by hormonal diseases or drug treatments that cause obesity as a side effect. But first of all, there are many diseases that are caused by bad habits (for example, eating too many things with sugar causes diabetes or drinking too much alcohol causes sirrosis) Second, it has been shown that with a healthier life or with other mechanisms, you can counteract the secondary effect of hormonal diseases or by pharmacological treatments.
In conclusion, obesity is undoubtedly a chronic disease, which carries a risk factor to the health of people and it is very dangerous to relativise it taking into account that it is a condition that grows day by day in the population.

Post 6: Post graduate studies

Hello again friend! In this opportunity I going to talk about post graduate studies that I would like to do.
After my undergraduate, I would like to study a master’s degree in Government and Public Management at the University of Chile. Because, I like very much the area of management of the Public Administration and this master’s degree could help me to better perform my work in a public institution.
The subjects I would like to study or those that interest me most are those related to people management. In fact, also I would like to study a diploma course in People Management and Directive Abilities for the Public Management at the University of Chile.
I prefer to study in Chile, because I don’t like travel for studies or work. Studies abroad do not catch my attention. In addition, I would not like be away from my family and friends.
About the study mode that I would like, in the master´s degree I prefer to opt for the “year of continuity” that offered by the university in the undergraduate, for graduate of master in one year. The diploma course can be vespertine. Always I prefer a face to face mode over an online mode.
Finally, I hope I never have to do an English course in the future, because I hate this language hahaha, it’s a joke, I do not hate English but I do not like it very much.

Post 5, My future job.

Hello again my friends! Now I going to talk about my future job (or rather as I imagine it or what I would like to work)
As a student of Public Administration, I would clearly like to practice my future profession within public institutions of the State (ministries, public services, municipalities, etc.) or work in any NGO (or if it is possible to found one).
Of any form, regardless of the institution that I have to be, I would like work in the area of management of human resources, because I like work with persons.  In addition this is an area taken into account inside of the administration. Apart from the management, I would also like to take charge of the training of the officials.
I would like the work to be indoor as outdoor, but I would not mind if it was just indoor. About  the travels, personally I do not like travel for work or for anything other than fun or pleasure. I feel that traveling that reason is not enjoyed so munch. But is have to do it, I will. If I work in a NGO, maybe the trips are more profitable.
About the salary, I would like earn enough for live well, I do not to make myself rich.
To finish, I would like very much to do a master´s degree and diplomas. This can greatly improve my job  performance.
